Economic Buzz: Eurozone GDP growth at 0.4% in Q2

The Eurozone's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.4% in the second quarter of 2026, the European Commission's statistical office, Eurostat, announced on Thursday in its first estimate. In the European Union, the economy expanded by 0.5%.

Year-on-year, seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 1% in the euro area and by 1.2% in the EU. In the previous quarter, the figures stood at 0.5% and 0.8%, respectively. Among member states for which data were available, Ireland recorded the sharpest quarterly rise at 3.9%, followed by Lithuania at 1.7%, while Sweden grew by 1.4%.

Meanwhile, Belgium and Austria stagnated compared with the previous quarter. No declines were registered among member states.
