Economic Buzz: Japan producer prices up 0.4% in June

Japan's producer price index (PPI) went up by 0.4% in June compared to the previous month, according to a preliminary report released by the Bank of Japan (BoJ) on Friday.
The reading marked a slight slowdown from May's 1.1% increase, while on a year-on-year basis PPI rose 7.1%.
The report also showed that export prices on a contract currency basis increased by 11.1% from a year earlier and fell by 0.4% from the previous month. Import prices rose 17.8% year-on-year and advanced 0.1% month-on-month.
