Economic Buzz: Australia house approvals rise 2.8% in May

Australia's private house approvals rose 2.8% m/m to 10,537 units in May 2026, rebounding from a 0.4% decline in April and marking the strongest monthly increase since September 2025. Annual approvals increased 13.2%, the fastest pace since September 2024, supported by gains in Western Australia, New South Wales, and Victoria.
