Domestic electricity futures near two and half month low
06-Jul-2026 | 12:44
Domestic electricity futures continued to soften, adding to recent losses as monsoon spread around the nation and electricity demand looked set to moderate. The MCX ELECDMBL futures for July 2026 fell under Rs 4200 per MWH in intraday moves and currently trade Rs 4265 per MWH, down 1.61% on the day. The counter has dipped near two and half month low. India's peak power consumption has started, reducing the demand for air conditioning. The open interest has edged up modestly. The Southwest Monsoon picked up pace in last week of June onwards and has covered many areas in northwest India.
