Economic Buzz: Eurozone's unemployment rate stable at 6.2% in May

The euro area's unemployment rate remained largely unchanged from April, landing at 6.2% in May, according to a report by Eurostat published on Thursday. In the European Union, the unemployment rate also stayed stable at 5.9%. Compared to May 2025, the unemployment rate both in the Eurozone and the EU fell by 0.1 points. The total number of unemployed people in the Eurozone was 10.99 million, and in the EU it was 13.16 million.

The highest unemployment rates were recorded in Finland at 10.6% and in Spain at 10.3%, while the lowest rates were seen in Bulgaria and Czechia at 2.9%. The youth unemployment rate was 14.7% in the euro area, unchanged from the previous month, and 15.2% in the EU, 0.1 points higher than in April.
