Economic Buzz: US personal spending up 0.7% in May

Personal consumption expenditures (PCE) in the United States rose by 0.7% in May compared to April, the Bureau of Economic Analysis said in a report released on Thursday. Personal income also gained 0.7% on a monthly basis, as did the disposable personal income.
PCE price index, the inflation measure monitored by the Federal Reserve, advanced by 0.4% in May month-on-month and 4.1% annually. Core PCE inflation, excluding food and energy, stood at 0.3% and 3.4%, respectively.
