Sensex zooms 648 pts higher; bank shares advance
At 11:28 ST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, soared 647.86 points or 0.85% to 76,754.83. The Nifty 50 index rose 153.30 points or 0.64% to 23,976.70.
In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index fell 0.40% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index declined 0.43%.
The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 1,843 shares rose and 1,816 shares fell. A total of 209 shares were unchanged.
Initial Public Offer(IPO):
Waterways Leisure Tourism received bids for 13,08,294 shares as against 41,84,004 shares on offer, according to stock exchange data at 11:22 IST on 24 June 2026. The issue was subscribed 0.31 times.
The issue opened for bidding on 23 June 2026 and it will close on 25 June 2026. The price band of the IPO is fixed between Rs 769 and 808 per share. An investor can bid for a minimum of 18 equity shares and multiples thereof.
Advit Jewels received bids for 16,75,83,900 shares as against 83,79,300 shares on offer, according to stock exchange data at 11:22 IST on 24 June 2026. The issue was subscribed 20 times.
The issue opened for bidding on 23 June 2026 and it will close on 25 June 2026. The price band of the IPO is fixed between Rs 130 and 138 per share. An investor can bid for a minimum of 100 equity shares and multiples thereof.
CSM Technologies received bids for 13,75,572 shares as against 1,11,30,880 shares on offer, according to stock exchange data at 11:22 IST on 24 June 2026. The issue was subscribed 0.12 times.
The issue opened for bidding on 24 June 2026 and it will close on 29 June 2026. The price band of the IPO is fixed between Rs 107 and 113 per share. An investor can bid for a minimum of 132 equity shares and multiples thereof.
Buzzing Index:
The Nifty Bank index rose 1.25% to 57,897.20. The index fell 1.30% in the previous trading session.
ICICI Bank (up 2.56%), HDFC Bank (up 1.98%), AU Small Finance Bank (up 1.44%), Axis Bank (up 1.36%) and Yes Bank (up 1.34%), IndusInd Bank (up 1.1%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 1.03%), Federal Bank (up 0.94%), State Bank of India (up 0.36%) and IDFC First Bank (up 0.22%) added.
On the other hand, Canara Bank (down 0.41%), Punjab National Bank (down 0.21%) and Bank of Baroda (down 0.13%) moved lower.
Stocks in Spotlight:
Innovision rose 1.09% after the company received a letter of award (LoA) worth Rs 7.74 crore from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for toll collection and facility maintenance services in Andhra Pradesh.
Rashi Peripherals rallied 5.62% after the company entered into definitive agreement to acquire a 67% stake in VDA Infosolutions (VDA) for a cash consideration of Rs 368.50 crore.
Prostarm Info Systems rose 1.63% after the company announced that it has been declared the lowest (L1) bidder by Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services for a contract valued at Rs 4.03 crore.
Global Markets:
Asian markets traded mixed were wobbly on Wednesday, a day after a global selloff in technology and semiconductor shares, with analysts cautioning about the risk of renewed volatility.
Meanwhile, oil prices edged lower Wednesday as investors watched developments around tanker traffic and maritime operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
International benchmark Brent crude futures for August fell 0.45% to $76.73 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures for August dropped 0.48% to $72.86 per barrel.
Over 11,000 seafarers stuck in the Persian Gulf will begin to exit through the Strait of Hormuz, according to the International Maritime Organization.
The Strait of Hormuz is a key route for global energy supplies, with about 20% of oil shipments passing through the waterway before the Iran conflict.
Index provider MSCI kept South Korea classified as an ?emerging market? in its most recent review on Tuesday, while extending its assessment of Indonesia?s status until November.
