Commodities Buzz: Copper net speculative longs hit five-year high

Base metal speculators increased their longs in the Copper futures market, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Copper futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds and retailers totaled a net long position of 78833 contracts in the data reported through June 2, 2026, surging by 5793 contracts and hitting five-year high.
