Economic Buzz: US new home sales down by 6.2% in April

Sales of new single-family houses in the United States observed a monthly decline of 6.2% in April to reach 622,000, the US Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development said in their monthly report published on Thursday. Year-on-year, the April figure went down by 11.3%.
The median sales price of new houses rose to $422,500 in the reported period, up 8% month-on-month and 2.2% year-on-year. The average sales price of new houses sold reached $508,800, increasing by 0.7% on a monthly basis and decreasing by 1.1% on an annual basis.
The seasonally-adjusted estimate of new homes for sale at the end of April was 489,000, a 1.7% rise from March but a 2.2% decline from April 2025.
