Economic Buzz: German trade surplus down to ?14.3B in March

The German trade surplus stood at ?14.3 billion in March, down from ?19.8 billion recorded in February, the country's Federal Statistical Office Destatis revealed in its report on Friday.

According to the report, exports totaled ?135.8 billion, up 0.5% from the previous month and 1.9% from the same month last year. Imports increased by 5.1% monthly to ?121.5 billion, and 7.2% annually.

In March, Germany's calendar and seasonally adjusted exports to EU member states reached ?78.4 billion, while imports from these countries stood at ?61 billion. Meanwhile, exports to non-EU countries amounted to ?57.4 billion, and imports from these countries totaled ?60.5 billion.
