Economic Buzz: US durable goods orders up by 0.8% in March

Durable goods orders in the United States increased 0.8% in March to reach $318.9 billion, the US Census Bureau reported on Wednesday. The figure marks a decrease from February's revised decline of 1.2%.
Computers and electronic products led the increase, jumping 3.7% to reach $29.6 billion. The new orders, excluding transportation, jumped 0.9%, and excluding defense, dropped 0.3%.
Shipments of manufactured durable goods advanced 0.7%, reaching $322.2 billion. Unfilled orders of durable goods added 0.1%, landing at $1,540.9 billion.
