Economic Buzz: China?s unemployment remains stable in first quarter

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China?s urban surveyed unemployment rate averaged 5.3% in the first quarter, unchanged from the same period last year.
In March, the urban surveyed unemployment rate stood at 5.4%. The rate for people with local household registration was 5.4%, while for those without local registration it was 5.3%. Among non-local residents, the unemployment rate for those with agricultural household registration was higher at 5.7%.
The surveyed unemployment rate across 31 major cities was 5.3% in March.
On the employment side, workers in enterprises worked an average of 48.1 hours per week. By the end of the first quarter, the number of rural migrant workers reached 188.38 million, increasing by 0.2% year on year.
