Economic Buzz: German trade surplus down to ?19.8B in February

The German trade surplus narrowed to ?19.8 billion in February, down from ?20.3 billion in January, the country's Federal Statistical Office Destatis said on Thursday.
According to the report, exports totaled ?135.2 billion, representing a 3.6% increase from the previous month and a 2.9% rise from the same month last year. Imports gained 4.7% on a monthly basis, to ?115.4 billion, while compared with the same month a year earlier, imports improved by 1.5%.
In February, Germany's calendar and seasonally adjusted exports to EU member states reached ?75.9 billion, while imports from these countries were ?59.3 billion. Meanwhile, exports to non-EU countries amounted to ?59.4 billion, and imports from these countries totaled ?56.2 billion.
