Economic Buzz: US GDP growth expected to remain around 2% in 2026 and 2027

09-Apr-2026 | 12:29
World Bank stated in a latest update that growth in the United States slowed from 2.8 percent in 2024 to 2.1 percent in 2025. Consumer spending has mostly held steady in the face of low consumer confidence, rising costs, and slowing employment growth, supported by a falling savings rate. Investment has been supported by a boom in AI-related activity, such as construction of data centers and purchases of equipment and software. According to consensus forecasts, output growth is expected to remain around 2 percent in 2026 and 2027 as high energy prices, tariff volatility, slowing labor supply, and policy uncertainty weigh on growth.
