Economic Buzz: Eurozone producer prices down 0.7% in February

Producer prices in the Eurozone fell by 0.7% in February compared to January, Eurostat said in a report on Wednesday. Meanwhile, in the European Union, the producer price index (PPI) declined by 0.5% month-on-month. Annually, producer prices dropped 3% in the euro area and 2.7% in the EU.

The Eurozone saw a 2.4% drop in energy producer prices, while the PPI for non-durable consumer goods fell by 0.2%. The index rose by 0.3% for intermediate and capital goods and 0.2% for durable consumer goods. On a yearly basis, energy PPI sank 11.7%, while durable consumer goods saw the biggest increase at 2.5%, followed by capital goods at 1.6%, intermediate goods at 1.3% and non-durable consumer goods at 0.2%.
