Agri Buzz: Domestic Sugar output up 9.50%

The sugar production in India in the 2025?26 season has seen 9.50% rise, due to ramping up in the sugar production by two states ? Maharashtra and Karnataka, according to the Indian Sugar and Bio-Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA). The sugar production in the 2025?26 season, as of the FY26 ended on March 31, has risen to 272.31 lakh tonnes, up from 248.78 lakh tonnes, compared to the last FY25. Maharashtra has produced a total of 99.30 lakh tonnes so far, compared with 80.26 lakh tonnes on the corresponding date last year, witnessing a growth of 23%. Karnataka?s output stood at 47.90 lakh tonnes, up 20% from a year ago. Uttar Pradesh has produced 87.50 lakh tonnes, which is almost the same as last year?s level on the same date.
