Economic Buzz: Eurozone unemployment rate at 6.2% in February

The unemployment rate in the Eurozone stood at 6.2% in February, rising slightly from 6.1% observed in January and slipping from 6.3% in the same month the year before, the European Commission's statistical office Eurostat revealed in its report released on Wednesday. In the European Union, the figure landed at 5.9%, unchanged from the previous month and down from 6% in February 2025.

In the EU, 13.1 million people were unemployed, 10.9 million of them in the euro area. On a monthly basis, those figures increased by 137,000 in the EU and 93,000 in the Eurozone. Meanwhile, on an annual basis, the numbers decreased by 18,000 in the EU and by 124,000 in the euro area.

The youth unemployment rate stood at 15.2% in the euro area and 15.3% in the EU.
