Eurozone inflation rose slightly in February 2026, reaching 1.9% compared to 1.7% in January. However, it remains lower than the 2.3% recorded a year ago. Across the wider European Union, inflation also edged up to 2.1% from 2.0% in January, but is still below last year?s 2.7%, according to data released by Eurostat.
Among EU countries, Denmark, Cyprus, and Czechia reported the lowest inflation rates, while Romania, Slovakia, and Croatia saw the highest. Compared to January, inflation declined in 11 member states, stayed unchanged in four, and increased in 12.
Looking at what drove inflation in the euro area, services made the biggest contribution, followed by food, alcohol and tobacco, and non-energy industrial goods. In contrast, energy prices helped to reduce overall inflation.
