Agri Buzz: India's vegetable oil import spikes 35% on year in Feb-25

According to the Solvent Extractors? Association of India (SEA), the import of vegetable oils (edible & non-edible) during Feb. 2026 totalled 1,316,545 tons compared to 977,477 tons in Feb., 2025 i.e. up by 35%. This includes 1,292,043 tons of edible oils and 24,502 tons of non-edible oils. In first four months of the oil year 2025-26 (Nov?25-Feb.?26), total vegetable oil (edible + non-edible) imports reached 5,324,275 tons, up by 6% from 5,023,900 tons in the same period last year. Edible oil import in February 2026 marginally declined to 12.92 lakh tons from 13.12 lakh tons in previous months (January,2026).
