Agri Buzz: India's vegetable oil import gains 8% in Dec-25

The Solvent Extractors? Association of India (SEA) has released the import data for vegetable oils (edible & non-edible) for Dec., 2025. Imports during the month totalled 1,383,245 tons compared to 1,275,554 tons in Dec., 2024 i.e. up by 8%. This includes 1,362,245 tons of edible oils and 21,000 tons of non-edible oils. In first two months of the oil year 2025-26 (Nov-Dec.?25), total vegetable oil imports reached 2,567,077 tons, falling by 12% from 2,926,530 tons in the same period last year. However, edible oil import in December 2025 rose to 13.62 lakh tons from 11.51 lakh tons in November 2025, increased by 18%.
