Japan?s housing starts dropped 7.3% year-on-year in September 2025, marking the sixth straight monthly decline but easing from a 9.8% fall in August. Construction fell less sharply for owned homes and prefabricated units, while rented and built-for-sale segments remained weak. However, issued units and two-by-four homes saw a rebound, offering slight relief to the country?s housing sector downturn.
