Economic Buzz: UK GDP edges up 0.1% in August as manufacturing rebounds

The UK economy grew slightly by 0.1% in August 2025, rebounding from July?s revised 0.1% decline. The modest uptick was supported by stronger production output, which rose 0.4% on gains in manufacturing, utilities, and water supply. Manufacturing led the recovery with a 0.7% rise, while electricity and gas output climbed 0.4%. However, growth was capped by a 2.3% slump in mining and quarrying and a 0.3% drop in construction as repair and maintenance weakened.
