Solvent Extractor's Association or SEA Groundnut Promotion Council Groundnut crop survey stated that in the last Kharif season (2024-25), the initial groundnut crop estimate for Gujarat was assessed at 42.2 lakh MT, which after field verification revised upward to 46 lakh MT, indicating a 10% higher production than the initial estimate. During the current Kharif season (2025-26), Gujarat is estimated to have a groundnut production of 46.07 lakh tonnes. For the current year (2025?26), while the area under groundnut cultivation has expanded by approximately 3 lakh hectares, overall productivity has declined?from 2,210 kg/ha last year to 2,092 kg/ha. This drop is largely attributed to a dry spell from mid-July to mid-August, followed by excessive rainfall that adversely impacted yields. As a result, despite the increased acreage, the estimated groundnut crop for 2025?26 remains around 46 lakh MT, similar to the previous season. The gain in area has been offset by reduced productivity, keeping overall output at last year?s level.
