Australia?s employment fell by 5,400 to 14.63 million in August 2025, marking the first decline since May. The drop was led by a sharp fall of 40,900 in full-time jobs, while part-time roles rose by 35,500. Despite the setback, total employment was still up 217,200, or 1.5%, from a year earlier. The figures point to a cooling labor market momentum, even as overall job levels remain higher than last year.
