About Zydus Wellness Ltd

History

Zydus Wellness Limited, initially commonly referred to as Carnation Nutra-Analogue Foods, originated as in 1994. The company is recognised for its portfolio of nutrition and skincare products and is a subsidiary of Zydus Lifesciences (formerly Cadila Healthcare). Zydus Wellness made a notable impact with its margarine product, Nutralite, which became the largest-selling margarine brand in India. In 1996, the company was listed on the BSE and NSE. In 2006, Cadila Healthcare gained complete control of a significant stake in the company, which increased further in 2008 following the merger of Cadila's consumer goods business with Carnation. This merger included the sugar substitute brand Sugar-Free and the EverYuth range of skincare products. Subsequently, in January 2009, the merged entity was renamed Zydus Wellness Limited. The company expanded its product range over the years, including the introduction of men's grooming and skincare products in 2009, the launch of the milk additive brand Actilife in 2011, the development of stevia products in 2017, and the launch of a second sugar substitute brand, Sugarlite, in 2018. A significant expansion occurred in January 2019 when Zydus Wellness gained complete control of a part of Heinz India's business for ₹4,595 crore. This acquisition included popular health drink brand Complan, glucose-based energy drink additive Glucon D, talcum powder brand Nycil, and Sampriti Ghee, as well as Heinz India's manufacturing facilities in Aligarh and Sitarganj. In 2020, responding to the market demand of the time, Zydus Wellness also started manufacturing hand sanitisers and chocolate products. The company operates three manufacturing plants, one in Gujarat and two in Sikkim, and its key brands include Glucon-D, Sugar-Free, EverYuth, Complan, and Nycil. As of FY 2023, the company operates five manufacturing facilities located in Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Sitarganj (Uttarakhand), and two in Mamring (Sikkim). Zydus Wellness has established a strong presence across India through a network of over 1700 distributors and approximately 2000 sales representatives. The company's effective distribution is supported by 24 integrated warehouses catering to cold chain and ambient product ranges.
