About Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd

History

In 1963, Mr. Bhavarlal Jain founded the family business in trading while selling kerosene in a pushcart. Thereafter, he established agencies for two-wheelers, auto vehicles and automobile accessories. In the following decade, agencies for farm inputs such as fertilisers, seeds, and pesticides were also added. In 1978, they acquired the full reins of a 14-year-old, sick banana powder plant and then modified it for the production of Papain from Papaya latex. They started exporting refined Papain from that plant. In 1980, they started manufacturing PVC Pipes and then expanded to further Casing and Screen Piping Systems exports. In 1989, the company pioneered water management through its micro Irrigation efforts, introducing some hi-tech concepts to Indian agriculture like the ‘Integrated System Approach’. The company also got listed in the BSE in January 1989. In 1994, the company set up food processing facilities for the dehydration of onion and other vegetables, as well as the production of pulp and concentrates of tropical fruits such as Mango, Banana, Papaya, Guava, Tomato and Aonla. The company’s spice processing plant is the biggest in the country and it produces spices such as Cumin, Chilli, Coriander, Black Pepper, Garlic, Turmeric and Ginger powders. In 2006, the company gained complete control of multiple facilities in fruit processing, dehydration, etc. In 2010, they commenced a biogas-based captive power plant and also a photovoltaic panel assembly line. In 2012, they commenced a solar power plant as well. In 2016, they began a retail business of Jain Farmfresh Foods Ltd as well as the smart, clean and automatic screen filter production. In 2018, they built Jain Logic, a software for analytical purposes related to irrigation systems. In 2019, Jain Farm Fresh launched 2 new products, viz. Frussh and Fruzen.

The company is in the business of producing the following:
  1. Drip irrigation solutions- This segment involves the production of drip lines, tubes and other kits, polyfittings and valves.
  2. Micro and Mini Sprinklers- This segment includes the production of micro irrigation equipment such as Jets, misters, foggers, bubblers, etc.
  3. Hose Reel and Boom Irrigation- These irrigation solutions are hose-based water sprinklers on mounted vehicles.
  4. Filters, Dosing Pumps and Injectors- These solutions are used for pesticide injection and sprays applied to buildings.
  5. PVC and HDPE Piping Systems- These are various types of piping systems based on PVC and other materials.
  6. Plumbing and Drainage Systems- These are basic plumbing solutions for urban and rural areas.
  7. Plastic sheets- These are PVC-based plastic sheets used for engineering purposes.
  8. Planting material- These include tissue culture plants, seedlings, grafted plants, etc.
  9. Green energy products- These are solar energy solutions like pumping systems, water heating systems, power generation solutions, etc.
  10. Turnkey projects- These are various custom-built solutions in the above areas.

  1. Jain Farm Fresh Ltd- This is a retail enterprise for spices, tea, fruits and processed food products.
  2. Jain America Inc., USA- This subsidiary handles the operations of the organization in the US.
  3. Gavish Control Systems Ltd, Israel- This company offers software and other equipment for analysing and controlling agricultural markets.
  4. Excel Plastics Piping Systems SAS, France- This subsidiary core priorityes on exports of plastic piping systems to France.

Ashok Bhavarlal Jain, Chairperson, Executive Director He is the eldest son of the late Dr Bhavarlal Jain, i.e. the Founder Chairman.
