About Hindustan Zinc Ltd

History

_x000D_ Hindustan Zinc Ltd, a subsidiary of the Vedanta Group, is a market leader in Zinc and lead and the Sulphuric Acid business. Hindustan Zinc Ltd was incorporated from the earlier Metal Corporation of India (MCI) on January 10, 1966, and established as a Public Sector Undertaking. The company went public in October 1992._x000D_ _x000D_ In 2002-03, the company completed 32,000 tonnes of zinc debottlenecking at the Debari and Vizag Zinc Smelters. In 2003-04, the company completed 35,000 tonnes of zinc debottlenecking at the Chanderiya Smelter Complex. In 2004-05, the company expanded its Rampura Agucha Mine from 2.30 million tonnes per annum to 3.75 million tonnes per annum. In 2005-06, the company commissioned a Hydrometallurgical Zinc Smelter (Hydro I) with a 170,000 tonnes per annum capacity at the Chanderiya Smelter Complex. _x000D_ _x000D_ In 2009-10, the company expanded its total mining capacity to 8.40 million tonnes annually. They also commissioned the Hydrometallurgical Zinc Smelter at Rajpura Dariba, increasing the Zinc and Lead metal production capacity. In 2014-15, a paste fill plant at the Sindesar Khurd Mine was commissioned. In 2016-17, HZL's Sindesar Khurd Mine achieved a 3.7 million MT per annum production capacity. In 2016-17, HZL successfully commissioned 16 MW of captive solar farms. Next year, the main shaft hoisting and south ventilation shaft systems were commissioned._x000D_ _x000D_ In 2020-21, a Dry Tailing Plant was commissioned at the Zawar Mine. The Graphite floatation system was also commissioned at Mill 3 of Sindesar Khurd Mines to enhance its smelter and boost the recovery. Backfill plants were also commissioned at the Zawarmala and Mochia mines. The company completed the Miyawaki Method of Afforestation pilot project at Debari Zinc Smelter (DZS). During 2023, the company entered its operations in a fertiliser project by incorporating Hindustan Zinc Fertilisers Private Limited (HZFPL)._x000D_
