About Equitas Small Finance Bank Ltd

Journey of Equitas Small Finance Bank

Equitas Small Finance Bank Limited, referred to as ESFBL, has a corporate history dating back to 1993 when it was initially incorporated as V.A.P Finance Private Limited. Later, in August 2011, the company changed to Equitas Finance Private Limited.  Subsequently 2011, Equitas Holdings Limited gained complete control of the company, leading to another name change to Equitas Finance Limited in September 2015, following its transition to a Public Limited Company. The transformation continued with a scheme of amalgamation, resulting in the merger of Equitas Micro Finance Limited and Equitas Housing Finance Limited with the company. Due to this amalgamation, the company assumed the new identity of Equitas Small Finance Bank Limited (ESFBL).  The transfer of microfinance and housing finance businesses from the erstwhile EMFL and EHFL to ESFBL became effective on September 2, 2016. ESFBL officially commenced its banking operations on September 5, 2016, subsequent to obtaining the final banking license from the Reserve Bank of India. The company was listed on the NSE and BSE on November 2, 2020, with an Initial Public Offer of ₹2,175 crore.

  • The prevailing credit gap delivers ESFBL the chance to achieve sustained long-term growth. By strategically positioning itself in the market and effectively addressing the financial needs of a diverse customer base, the bank can build a robust and enduring business model.
  • The ongoing trend of increased formalisation in the Indian economy offers a significant growth avenue for ESFBL.
