History of BASF India Limited 

_x000D_ Incorporated in 1943, BASF India Limited is involved in the manufacturing and trading of chemicals and chemical products. _x000D_ _x000D_ Originally, the company was incorporated as R.A. Cole Limited and started manufacturing expandable and expanded polystyrene and synthetic tanning agents. In 1963, the company’s name was changed to Indoplast Ltd, which was changed to BASF India Ltd in 1967 after the company had collaborated with Badische Anilin & Soda-Fabric AG (BASF), West Germany. _x000D_ _x000D_ In 1967, the company signed an agreement with the National Research Development Corporation of India (NRDC) and agreed to offer the know-how developed by the Central Leather Research Institute for certain synthetic tanning agents. The next year, the company went public. In 1980, the company set up an agrochemical plant on the Thane-Belapur road. In 1998, BASF India Limited established 2 new plants in Mangalore to manufacture leather chemicals, auxiliaries, acrylic polymers, etc. _x000D_ _x000D_ By 1999, the company had five divisions - leather chemicals, chemicals, plastics, crop protection chemicals and colour dispersions.
