History of Axis Bank

In 1993, the bank was jointly promoted by Specified Undertaking of Unit Trust of India (SUUTI) (then known as Unit Trust of India), General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), The New India Assurance Company(NIA), National Insurance Company(NIC), United India Insurance Company (UIIC) and the Oriental Insurance Company (OIC).
