Having started its operations in 1994, Axis Bank is India’s one of the first new-generation private sector banks. In 1993, the bank was jointly promoted by Specified Undertaking of Unit Trust of India (SUUTI) (then commonly referred to as Unit Trust of India), General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), The New India Assurance Company(NIA), National Insurance Company(NIC), United India Insurance Company (UIIC) and the Oriental Insurance Company (OIC). They have over 4,903 domestic branches and 15,953 ATMs and cash recyclers in India. Amitabh Chaudhry, Managing Director and CEO Amitabh Chaudhry joined Axis Bank on January 1, 2019. He started his career in 1987 with Bank of America and worked at various established organizations, including Infosys BPO, Infosys Technologies and HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company Limited. He did his graduation from BITS, Pilani and post-graduation in Business Management from IIM, Ahmedabad.
