History

Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Limited (ABSLAMC), initially established as 'Birla Capital International AMC Limited' in Mumbai, commenced its operations officially on November 10, 1994. The company underwent a name change to 'Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company Limited' on June 29, 1999, as per a revised certificate of incorporation. Later, on July 17, 2017, it adopted its current name, 'Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Limited'. The company is a joint venture between the Aditya Birla Group and Sun Life Group. It is promoted and majorly held by Aditya Birla Capital Limited and Sun Life (India) AMC Investments Inc. Aditya Birla Capital Limited, a subsidiary of Grasim Industries Limited, and Sun Life (India) AMC Investments Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sun Life Financial Inc., hold the share capital of ABSLAMC. ABSLAMC's branch office in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) was established in January 2022. In 2023, ABSLAMC launched and raised ₹734 crore in the India Equity Services Fund (CAT III AIF) and received SEBI approval for three additional funds. The company also completed the first close of the Aditya Birla Real Estate Credit Opportunities Fund (Category II AIF) and began deploying its first investment. For the fourth quarter of FY23, the Mutual Fund Quarterly Average Assets Under Management (QAAUM) stood at ₹3,235 billion, with a 7.7% market share (excluding ETF).
