New PAN Correction Form from 1st April 2026
CBDT has notified new PAN correction forms from April 1, 2026, under Income-tax Rules 2026, simplifying how individuals and non-individuals can update PAN details such as name, address, date of birth, passport number, and parent name on the card.
New PAN correction forms changes from 1st April 2026 :-
The Central Board of Direct Taxes has introduced new PAN correction forms under Rule 158(12) of the Income-tax Rules 2026. Individuals must now use PAN CR-01, while non-individual entities must use PAN CR-02 for corrections or updates in PAN data.
This new system is meant to streamline the correction process and make PAN records more accurate across the tax system. It also standardizes the forms and filing procedure as directed by the Director General of Income-tax (Systems).
What Details Can Be Changed
The new individual PAN correction form asks for a wide set of personal information. These include:
- Name.
- Gender.
- Date of birth.
- Full address.
- Passport number.
- Taxpayer identification number in the country of residence.
- Mobile number, landline, and email ID.
- Father’s name and mother’s name.
The form also asks applicants to choose whether their father’s name or mother’s name should be printed on the PAN card, and one of them must be selected mandatorily.
Documents You Need
Applicants must submit supporting documents for the requested change. These include proof of identity, proof of address, proof of date of birth, and proof supporting the correction or change.
If the PAN card is lost, a copy of the FIR must be submitted with the application. Aadhaar is also mandatory, except for exempt categories.
How To Apply
PAN correction forms can now be submitted either offline or online. Offline applications can be filed at PAN centres of UTIITSL or Protean eGov.
Online filing is also available through the respective websites. The tax department has advised applicants to fill offline forms clearly, in block letters, preferably in black ink, and only in English.
Why This Matters
Accurate PAN data is important because PAN is linked to tax filing, bank accounts, investments, and financial reporting. Even a small mismatch in name, date of birth, or address can create delays in KYC, refunds, or return processing.
The updated format should reduce errors and make it easier for taxpayers to keep their records aligned across financial systems. For NRIs and people with foreign identifiers, the inclusion of passport and taxpayer ID details is also helpful.
What Taxpayers Should Do Now
If your PAN card has old or incorrect details, this is a good time to update it. You should verify that your Aadhaar, PAN, bank KYC, and income-tax records all match exactly.
Before applying, keep scanned copies of the required documents ready. That will make both online and offline submission much faster.
