France?s annual inflation rate eased to 0.9% in August from 1% in July, driven by a slowdown in services price growth and a larger drop in manufactured goods prices. Energy inflation continued its decline but at a softer pace, while food and tobacco prices remained stable. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4%, boosted by a sharp rebound in clothing and footwear after summer sales and a modest uptick in services. The harmonized inflation rate followed suit, slowing to 0.8% annually, with the monthly HICP rising 0.5%.
