Economic Buzz: Australia?s trade surplus hits 17-month high on export surge

04-Sep-2025 | 10:33
Australia?s goods trade surplus jumped to AUD 7.31 billion in July 2025, the largest since February 2024. Exports climbed 3.3% to a 21-month high of AUD 46.02 billion, driven by stronger non-rural shipments and a surge in exports to the US, which soared 126.1% ahead of new tariffs. However, exports to China fell 13.6%. Imports dropped 1.3% to AUD 38.71 billion, marking a three-month low, weighed down by weaker demand for non-monetary gold.
