Precious Metals Preview: COMEX gold peaks to new high; Up 1.5% in early Asia

02-Sep-2025 | 08:29

COMEX gold prices climb further on Tuesday morning in Asia to hit a new lifetime peak amid growing expectations of a Federal rate cut that is pushing dollar lower. The yellow metal is currently seen quoting at $3567.10 an ounce, up around 1.5% on the day. The dollar index is trading below 98 mark while US benchmark treasury yields are staying flat near 4.2%. Besides, US tariffs uncertainty and escalating geopolitical tensions are also seen underpinning the safe-haven bullion. Focus now shifts to this week?s US nonfarm payrolls report, which could influence the Fed's rate decision.
