Commodities Buzz: Silver net speculative long positions drop to four-month low

Precious metals speculators continued to cut their net long positions in the Silver futures markets further last week, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Silver futures, traded by large speculators, hedge funds and retailers, totaled a net position of 44268 contracts in the data reported through August 12, 2025. This was a weekly slide of 6390 net contracts and pulled net longs to four-month low.
