Economic Buzz: US wholesale inventories down 0.3% in May

The U.S. Census Bureau announced the wholesale inventories and retail inventories advance statistics for May 2025.

Wholesale inventories for May were estimated at an end-of-month level of $905.4 billion, down 0.3 percent from April 2025, and were up 1.4 percent from May 2024. The March 2025 to April 2025 percentage change was revised from the preliminary estimate of up 0.2 percent to up 0.1 percent.

Retail inventories for May were estimated at an end-of-month level of $806.6 billion, up 0.3 percent from April 2025, and were up 3.2 percent from May 2024. The March 2025 to April 2025 percentage change was unrevised from the preliminary estimate of virtually unchanged.
