Raw Sugar slides to three month low, Indian output remains in focus

17-Dec-2024 | 13:10
Global Sugar prices stay in a downward trajectory as focus on Indian output trends and a firm US dollar index keeps the counter under check. FAO has recently noted that the decline in Sugar prices in November is attributed to the start of the crushing season in India and Thailand, along with eased concerns over next year?s crop prospects in Brazil. While increased rainfall in key southern growing regions of Brazil disrupted harvest progress during the month, it improved soil moisture, benefiting the upcoming crop after a prolonged period of dry weather. Indian Sugarcane crushing season is in its early phase right now and will likely dictate trends for global markets in near term. Global Sugar futures currently trade at 20.66 cents per pound, down 0.30% on the day. Prices are near three month low right now.
