Aluminium slides as Donald Trump warns of doubling tariffs on imported steel and aluminium

02-Jun-2025 | 12:00
Aluminium futures slid lower today as markets eyed global trade frictions after US President Donald Trump warned of doubling tariffs on imported steel and aluminium to 50 % starting June 4. Donald Trump also accused China of violating the trade agreement reached last month, pulling equities and risky assets lower on Monday morning in Asia. MCA Aluminium futures pulled back amid these cues and currently trade at Rs 235.40 per kg, down around half a percent on the day. Other metals are flat to positive with MCX Copper adding 0.60% to trade at Rs 866.15 per kg.
