Economic Buzz: US wholesale inventories up 2.4% on year in April

The U.S. Census Bureau announced the wholesale inventories and retail inventories advance statistics for April 2025.

Wholesale inventories for April were estimated at an end-of-month level of $906.9 billion, virtually unchanged from March 2025, and were up 2.1 percent from April 2024. The February 2025 to March 2025 percentage change was revised from the preliminary estimate of up 0.4 percent to up 0.3 percent.

Retail inventories for April were estimated at an end-of-month level of $803.5 billion, down 0.1 percent from March 2025, and were up 3.5 percent from April 2024. The February 2025 to March 2025 percentage change was revised from the preliminary estimate of down 0.2 percent to down 0.3 percent.
