Economic Buzz: Japan jobless rate steady at 2.5 percent in April

Japan's unemployment rate held at 2.5 percent in April. The number of jobless rose by 30 thousand to 1.76 million, a nine-month high, while employment fell by 40 thousand to 68.04 million, the lowest in six months. The labor force shrank slightly, but participation rose to 63.7 percent, the highest in ten months and up from 63.1 percent a year earlier.
