Economic Buzz: China GDP grows 5.4% in Q1

China?s economy expanded at a faster pace than expected in the first three months of 2025, though its outlook is deteriorating rapidly due to Donald Trump?s massive tariffs.

China?s gross domestic product grew 5.4% in the first quarter from a year ago, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday.

On a quarter-to-quarter basis, GDP expanded 1.2% in the January-to-March period, below expectations for a 1.4% rise and compared with a 1.6% increase in the previous quarter.
