Economic Buzz: UK manufacturing output rises 0.7% in december 2024

Manufacturing production in the UK grew by 0.7% month-over-month in December 2024, rebounding from a 0.3% decline in November. Key gains came from pharmaceuticals (5.1%), machinery and equipment (5.9%), and other manufacturing and repair (2.3%). However, output fell for computer electronics (-3.6%), petroleum products (-2.3%), and rubber and plastics (-1.7%). Annually, manufacturing output contracted by 1.4%, deeper than the 1.1% drop in the previous month.
