Industrial production in Germany rose 0.4% month on month in April, the country's Federal Statistical Office Destatis revealed in its report published on Tuesday. Output in the industry fell 0.5% in comparison to the same timeframe a year ago.

The largest contributor to the monthly increase was construction, as production in the sector grew 2.4% in April compared to March. In addition, production in the chemical industry added 2.1%, and the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, gained 1.6% on a monthly level. The growth was somewhat offset by a 4.7% fall in production in the automotive industry.

Production in industry, excluding energy and construction, was unchanged in April compared to the previous month, and down 2.1% compared to April 2025. The production of intermediate and consumer goods increased by 1.4% and 1.9%, month on month, respectively, while capital goods production decreased by 1.5%.
